The freshman team moved their season record to 2-0, with a 27-0 victory over the Bush Broncos Thursday night. The rangers dominated the game from start to finish, as contributions were made by all. The offense was led on the ground by Alec Davison ( 2 Td’s) , Michael Burr ( 1 TD), and Lawrenzo Minor ( 1 TD). Daniel Perez, Thomas Long, and Sohail Siraj led the ranger passing attack. The defense provided its second dominating performance of the season in the shut out win. Stand outs were Michael Munnell, Rondell Crayton, John Mills, and Daniel Jeffery.

HOUSTON, TX --- The Clements Rangers Freshmen improved their season mark to 2-0, 1-0 in 23-5A district play, with a resounding 27-0 win over Bush High School. The victory over Bush marks the second straight shutout posted by the Ranger’s vaunted defense.
After holding the Bush Broncos to a 3-and-out on their first possession, the Rangers had no trouble marching their way down the field to a touchdown run by Michael Burr. It was Burr’s second TD rush this season.
Having noticed a weakness in the Bronco armor on the opening kickoff, the Rangers stayed in attack mode after their initial score by recovering the ensuing “Ranger Attack” onside kick.
After another punishing drive focusing mainly on a steady diet of rushes from Burr and Lorenzo Minor, Davison found daylight and broke free for his first touchdown of the season to lead the Rangers into halftime up 13-0.
In the second half, the Ranger’s defense shone through. The Bronco’s quarterback was under duress nearly the whole game due to pressure from defensive linemen Mike Munnell and Rondell Crayton. The pressure eventually freed up linebacker Daniel Jeffery to make a punishing sack. Another devastating hit was administered by cornerback Lorenzo Minor, and it was clear the Rangers were on their way to victory.
Davison added another TD rush to his total, and Minor got on the scoreboard as well with his first TD rush of the season. Sohail Siraj was 3 of 4 on extra points for the evening. Siraj also added a nice catch and run up the seam for an important 1st down to extend a drive. Thomas Long made an equally nice grab just moments prior.
Up next for the Rangers are the Travis Tigers. The Ranger defensive line may find it more difficult to control the line of scrimmage in this match-up with Tiger offensive lineman Ryan Kowalewski as the anchor of a solid front five. This will surely be the toughest test yet for the Rangers who look to continue their solid start to the year especially on the defensive side of the ball.
